Who are Platform Partners?
Platform Partners are the entities who have the potential to contribute to the safety management programs of worksites such as fishing vessels. Platform Partners are Manufacturers of Emergency Equipment, Content Providers of emergency procedure instructions, emergency drills, or best safety management practices content, or service providers such as surveyors, drill conductors, instructors or inspectors. For example - a survival
suit manufacturer, a vessel surveyor and a publisher of safety material whether an association, insurance company, government agency, Sea Grant University or similar organization are all eligible to become Platform Partners.
How much is the fee to be on the SafetyConnection Platform?
The Overboard Solutions Safety Management Platform is available to Platform Partners at no charge.
How does it work?
Platform Partner Manufacturers of emergency equipment are able to enter equipment inspection, maintenance and service guidance, an owner’s manual and other documents associated with the equipment onto the Platform through their dedicated portal.
Platform Partner Content Providers are able to enter safety management instruction content specific to a regulation, category, subcategory and topic. The content document or video is added along with the key instruction points. For example, instruction content concerning recovering a person overboard is associated with regulation 46 CFR Part 28, category Emergency Instruction and subcategory Recovering an individual from the water can be added to the platform by Platform Partner AMSEA. Vessel management will then have the content available when putting together lesson plans to comply with 46 CFR Part 28 and the instructor will have the document and key instruction points to work from as he/she is giving
instruction on the topic. The same is true of drill content. Individual Drills are added by regulation, category, subcategory and topic. The setup, initiating, critical communications and critical responses are all defined. Drill content concerning a person overboard drill is associated with regulation 46 CFR Part 28, category Emergency Drills and subcategory Person Overboard can be added to the platform by Platform Partner NPFVOA. Vessel management will then have the content available when putting together lesson plans to comply with 46 CFR Part 28 and the drill conductor will have the document, setup and critical points to work from as he/she is conducting the drill.
What does the Safety Management Platform accomplish?
The Overboard Solutions Safety Management Platform removes the friction experienced while disseminating Platform Partner data to the end users. The safety management content is available to users at the precise time when it is most valuable, during the process of performing safety management duties benefiting both the provider and user of the content.
Do I give up ownership of my safety management content?
Absolutely not! Content ownership remains with the content provider. If content has to be updated, for example an owner's manual is updated, the old manual can be removed, never to be used again on the platform and the new manual will take its place. The record of users utilizing the old manual will remain but the old manual will no longer be available through the platform.
